There is no drought in WA state as been previously discussed. The difference between severe drought and a surplus in eastern WA comes down to as little as an inch of precip... and the recent precip departure formula used in that drought index map does not work for eastern WA. They have an abundance of available water at this point. 3 2 2 Quote **REPORTED CONDITIONS AND ANOMALIES ARE NOT MEANT TO IMPLY ANYTHING ON A REGIONAL LEVEL UNLESS SPECIFICALLY STATED**

There almost *has* to be some kind of warmup ahead of the next -NAO & discontinuous retrogression of the NPAC ridge, which is timed for the 3rd week of the month. So that’d place it right in the middle of May. If it doesn’t happen that would be pretty crazy.
