Euro and gfs had us fairly dry in Tacoma this weekend with about 0.10” of precip but have slowly gotten wetter. Both are 0.40-0.50” now.

Looks like we'll continue to keep that 4CH in check!

The 4CH is still strong it's just shifted way off to the east towards NM/TX. Arizona gets a prolific monsoon and California avoiding the blowtorch is a godsend for preventing another 2020/2021 fire season.

I wouldn't really call that a 4CH though. Lately we've just been seeing whole bunch of SE ridging. And from the looks of it it's going to stay that way for at least the next couple of weeks.

We’ve all had some pretty crazy dice rolls these last few years. Last June’s heat dome for example.

Impressive downpour currently in North Bend, with ~10 to 15 mph wind gusts.

Just missed us up here... had a few raindrops but can see the dark clouds in that direction.

Nice Euro run, with a persistently cool look to the end of the month while the rest of the country fries.

I'm just hoping this SE ridge becomes a persistent feature beyond summer. West coast was stuck under a forever ridge for 7-8 years, maybe its their turn.

To be fair the SE ridging has been pretty endless in most recent winters, just not the summers so much as they have definitely been more agreeable relative to average for them since that 2010-12 stretch. It seems like we pretty much trade off every few years, so hopefully this marks the start of another multi-year stretch like that.

I'm pretty happy it made it down here. Skagit/Snohomish county honestly has been the dividing line for a number of events in the last couple years. Here were my high, average, and low for the last week of December. That 17F day on the 27th was by far the coldest day I've ever experienced here. And 3 straight days with lows in the single digits was also a record for my station.

Not just for the last couple of years, either. I have seen it happen basically ever since moving to this region. No, it doesn’t always happen, but at the same time it is a recurring theme that does sometimes happen. One of the reasons why I was excited to move north from Seattle.

I do feel strong about about PDX’s 90-less July though!
