It's fun to go over here regardless of the weather.    Easy choice on a miserable 55 degree rainy day on the 4th of July weekend.

Sun breaking through here and 70.  Pretty pleasant really.

I am extremely jealous right now! Just had to turn up the heat in the house. Temp down to 53 outside.

I'll be travelling the lovely coastal glaciers and inlets of Alaska via cruise for the next few weeks so I'm hoping the weather cooperates (and offers up some great photo opportunities). At the same time I can imagine why they don't operate cruises in that part of the world during winter!

Are you doing one of the mega cruise ships or a smaller "boutique" ship (only a few hundred people)?

One year I was kayak camping out in the San Juans, and came across a group of tourists in zodiacs.  I looked up the ship, and it was a really small boutique ship (only about 70 guests).  It cost north of $10k for a week or so in Puget Sound up to the inside of Vancouver Island.  I have to admit I got a good amount of satisfaction knowing I got to enjoy something they paid 5 figures for, and it didn't cost me more than 1/4 tank of gas (even with today's prices, its still a bargin).

We did Norwegian several years ago and had a blast.  We did it in early August, and it was amazing.  We pretty much saw grey whales every day, it was pretty crazy.  We also had a large pod of orcas have a hell of a good time in our wake.

Given the intensifying and stationary occlusionary rain band sitting right atop the Sound, alongside the setting sun, it's safe to assume KSEA has already seen it's high temperature for the day.

Today's midnight high of 58F is the first sub-60 high in July since 2001, and the coldest July high temperature since 58F on 7/17/1999. Even given this, it's not actually a record for today's date. Today in 1966 it only reached 56F. If we had cooled off faster before midnight, we would have tied that figure, since after 1am 56F is the warmest we've been.

58F also ties for the coldest high temperature recorded on any July day since 1967, and ties 7/16/1986 and 7/17/1999 for the 4th coldest recorded highs for the month, ever.

A midnight high w/ afternoon cooling and an afternoon low temp is ASTOUNDING for early July. To do this twice during the early warm season, back on 6/12 and now 7/3, is pretty remarkable. A quite dynamic early summer we are having this year.

During certain setups Tillamook Head tends to help create a bit of an oasis down there.

It is. This is my second trip to beach with the two 3-4 year olds to get them out of the house and let the others have a break/prepare meals. The worst part is convincing them to get out of the wagon and walk the last bit because daddy’s arm is going to fall off if he has to pull them through the sand again

Pretty interesting how roughly 3 miles made a huge difference today. Looks like the rain band is shifting back west again starting to rain now. We have reached a scorching 57 degrees now too.

Having the same experience as T-Town here in Fircrest.  Just a little drizzle earlier but haven't been able to get the rain band to come this far west.  Though the radar looks like we might get something soon.  It's been sort of teasing us all day.  I really want it to rain.  I enjoy rain no matter the season or the holiday.  That's my preference 🙂 and that's all I will say unless I take it to the other thread...

Most places around Bend are right around 70, looks like low 70s in western OR. Looks very chilly in the Puget Sound area for this time of year. Also in northern CA with Chico at just 73 so far. Just checked - if it stays below 80, that’s the first sub-80 high there in July since 1997.

Yeah the rain just seemed to have a hard time pressing west of Puget sound down here. We didn’t get a lot but from some of the model runs the last few days we actually got more than I expected. Looks like we might get a little more based on radar we will see.

I bet that 95% of people in Seattle think the same thing about today's weather.   What joy is there in having Thanksgiving weather on the 4th of July weekend?    Depressing lack of seasonal variety.   Not worried about the Seattle area spontaneously combusting either.   Days are getting shorter and fall is coming.   It's so silly to cheer against having nice summer weather in our short window.  Just my opinion of course.   But I am certain if you ask around it would be the VAST majority opinion.   Obviously.   And you would feel the same if you lived here.  😀

Some overcast days I look forward to the sunset because once it's dark outside there's no difference between sunny and cloudy and it's also one day closer to the next sunny day. Yes, I know it's stupid for me to be thinking about Seattle weather when we're having a beautiful sunny and mild day in California.

On and off drizzle all day up here in Bellingham only .16" in the rain bucket.

Looks like SEA will just miss a record low max today thanks to a freak cool period at this time in 1966.  On the other hand still going to be around 15 below normal.

58/54 would actually smash the record low and come 1F shy of the record high. 56F average would also beat the record by 1F.

To be fair, playing contention with the coldest July air mass on record is quite the feat, especially in the 21st century.

Meanwhile the low at PDX (73/60) was warmer than the high at SEA!

Edit: Oops I didn't mean to quote both
