The NWS always appreciates observations, especially detailed observations that everyone on here is capable of giving. That can be done thru Twitter, as they often set up a feed for that, or the mPing app. That can include final snowfall amounts, when the snow starts/stops, precip type, dew point, etc
This helps them with short term forecasts as well as future forecasts as they can learn from them. A few years ago they had a freezing rain advisory for Leavenworth, but I notified
Definitely hasn't been a shortage of weather to talk about across the region and across the state this month. I'm sorry for my absence, friends.
The large storm that passed over OKC the other night was truly beautiful to watch.
I hadn't gotten to watch a massive supercell like that out there in many years. It makes me feel so small.
The weather is still always amazing to me, even if it is destructive at times.
Will have to see where things end up, but so far, this meteorological spring is the 3rd warmest on record for Chicago, trailing only 1977 and 2012.
In case anyone is wondering how much that the absurdly warm March 2012 is skewing the results... the period just from April 1 until now registers as 4th warmest.
Tomorrow we may get hit again here, but it's Saturday that does indeed look ominous. Could be some big time storms along the front with large hail initially, but the tornado threat will go way up as the LLJ punches in.
