February Weather in the Pacific Northwest

It was nice of Tim to take time out from his vacation tonight to tell us how our snow will soon be melting and it is going to be "warm" next week. In all fairness there are some fairly warm and ridgy GFS ensemble members starting around March 5. Maybe he just had the wrong week?

You did really well. I have maybe 1" new here. Still pretty though, and combined with what I still had on the ground it is closer to 2".

Would be nice if that stuff  over Washington wrapped back around overnight.

Yeah it was a fun 4 hours of moderate-heavy snow. Too bad a good amount of moisture had to be used up before it started to really stick but no complaints at all. I'm just happy I finally got in on the fun and all the other guys in WA and central/south Willamette valley are finally getting something too,

One of those rare days i the PNW lowlands where most everyone gets at least something,

Had a nice time by the fire watching the snow fall. Roads still wet but really pretty on the trees.

23*f here. All sideroads around the neighborhood either have about 1/4” of powder on them or are a sheet of ice from car tires pressing what little snow did fall into the pavement. Most people who live in the hills around here had to park their car at the Glenhaven Office and walk home, and some of the homes are a good 1/4-1/2 mile from there.

Went for a walk just now. Crystal clear skies and a dusting (1/4”) of snow, and 23* makes for an awesome setting. Would like for there to be about a foot of snow on the ground, but that would completely change the dynamic of my walk...

February 13th, 18th, and the 21st have all had snowfall here. Pretty impressive especially considering one or two more days of snowfall are possible. Every one of these events has only brought 1/2” of snow each though amounting to 1.5” total since the 13th. We need a big one.

Ended up with 3.7" from this storm, way over-achieved.  I was thinking maybe an inch.

However, waking up this morning, the pavement has mostly melted out as it sits at 31 and the sunshine yesterday was able to warm those surfaces up.

What's more impressive is the 11.1" I'm sitting at for the month.  Snowiest February since? 1995? I can't remember if it even snowed that much total during that month.

Looks like I picked up another half inch or so overnight, bringing my total from yesterday’s system to 1.5”.

Accumulations of a few inches or more look to be widespread from the Puget Sound area to the south Willamette Valley this morning. Nice to see!
