If it starts in May could be really bad. But maybe we will have a break after some time. But ensembles have warm anomalies for the entire run.

Well it happened in 2018. That was a low key very hot summer. SLE averaged almost 89F for highs in July.

Not looking forward to bring all sweaty everyday. I should make one of those DIY air conditioners.

At least my highs are usually 6-8F cooler than the valley.

I hated that summer. No variety at all and just endless flatish ridging that started at the end of April and never looked back. No huge heat waves either, just perpetually hot milquetoast.

And we had the one thunderstorm event here on Fathers Day but otherwise had virtually no weather systems impact us whatsoever until early October.

That was also heading into a Nino but I know the circumstances are probably different this year.

The GFS keeps showing what looks like a mid summer Monsoon setup over the Sierra from hour 260 onward. But it appears its a low pressure area coming up from Baja instead? Very odd.

Technically that's exactly what it is, right? Just a weird, janky way to get "monsoonal" moisture way out of season.

Looks like I’m going to have a high of 50 for the day. That’s pretty good for May.

51F and off and on showers. Very nice day and keeping the fire threats lower. So much nicer than the last few years for at least a little bit.

Dry here in Pullman and should be decent tomorrow for graduation.

SEA is about to half of normal rain for all of May and set a daily record today.    All good given the ridging coming.

58/49 day here. Mostly cloudy with rain showers at times. Picked up another .20” of rainfall.

Looks like the Euro is remaining a lot more reasonable with the ridge and lowland temps than the GFS. Hoping it wins out. Maybe we’ll get lucky and end the heat event with another thunderstorm outbreak. 🤞

It’s May 6th and we’re already calling summer toast. Give it some time folks…2019 looked pretty bad around mid June but it only got wetter from there that summer. I don’t think it’ll be a 2011 like summer but I also doubt it ends up as bad as the last 2 years.

Looking back at last April-June. It was the 3rd wettest since 1895 in Oregon. In Washington it was the 4th wettest.

The July-September period was the 8th driest on record in Oregon and 2nd driest in Washington.

In Washington the April-June period was the 6th coldest, the July-September period the 3rd warmest on record.

In Oregon the April-June period was only the 17th coldest on record. July-September the 2nd warmest statewide.
