People forget (or don't know) that both models only work off of initialization data and then use various degrees of image based machine learning at very high terrain definitions. Hail that deep at this time of year just can't be good. It's even worse for the ecosystem than a foot of snow this late in the Spring, and by a wide margin too.

Snow for the Mountain Passes.
Where: Coquihalla Highway, Allison Pass, Okanagan Connector, and Kootenay Pass.
When: Tonight to Wednesday morning.
What: Snowfall amounts of a trace to 4 cm with locally higher amounts possible. Transportation routes may be impacted. Travellers should be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions.
Remarks: Snow levels will drop below pass level for most high elevation travellers routes tonight and rise through the day on Wednesday. Some snowfall is expected to develop tonight and transition to rain showers Wednesday morning. Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
