This air mass is the real deal.  Down to 19 in Sumas now.  They have already had a very cold December and they will be in the deep freeze this week.  Coldest December on record is certainly possible there.

Yeah I was thinking about that the other day, and I just tallied it up, and my backyard has been frosty/frozen at least 13 out of 18 days.  My average low for the month so far is 28, and the average high is 38

I’m feeling like tonight is going to be filled with surprises especially with how juicy the radar is looking! I feel like Olympia north shouldn’t worry too much about Tuesday as the EPS and the Control look pretty good still.

NBM continues to improve. Afternoon discussion from the NWS should be interesting. image.thumb.png.daed277db6684bac8ac280cf8b9cc993.png

Yes.  People from OLM to SEA shouldn't think the ECMWF operational is perfectly nailing the screw line on Tuesday.  Still a good chance this works out well.

I wouldn’t be surprised if up in west Seattle that warm up was very shortlived. I think it’s definitely going to be a snow->rain->snow situation south of Seattle.

If the ECMWF is even correct with the low track.

I was just talking about how it would likely be if the low did go that far north for people to the south. It would likely switch back over in that situation as the front passes through. But yes the screw line the might end up being farther south or north of there.

@Brian_in_Leavenworth where did the leavenworth live cams go? I need my Bavarian fix 😢

So there was police action Friday night. Someone called in a threat to a local business, so they had a shelter in place order for awhile.  Turns out to be a false alarm.  3rd time something like this had happened in the last couple of years.  Police don't know I'd they are related.

They shut down the live cameras so people can't watch it.  Not sure why, maybe to discourage people who do this because they might get a thrill, or maybe if it was a real threat they don't want a criminal to have an advantage because they can watch the cops.

They should have turned it back on by now.  I'll try to tweet at them to remind them to turn it back on.

Currently 20, temp hasn't budged all morning.  Very light snow, like a flake here and there.  Not expecting much today, more later this week.  Probably close to 24 inches on the ground.

Euro gets DEN down to -23. If it verifies, that would be the coldest temp since Dec 1990 hit -25, and the second coldest December temperature on record.

We were laughing at the gfs temp outputs last week but current temps in bc and all over Alberta show the power of this airmass.

JAYA does not seem to be on board. What’s funny is I think some people have already gotten way more than what these are showing.
