Southerlies at the same time as westerly surge looks to screw King Snohomish line out of any wind. Unless surge makes it south.

On a positive note, temp is dropping here and we should get some snow showers.  Already snowing in S. Bend and points south.

Interesting storm-- not incredibly powerful but rather messy as far as the amount of branches and trees I see down, and power outages in the metro. Might be due to the 1-2 punch of extremely waterlogged soil, last week's ice, followed by unusually strong westerly winds.

Welp.... Olympia has had a 15mph gust so far...

Fox Island across from University Place near Tacoma saw a 29mph gust with sustained winds currently at 4mph. 

Des Moines' North Hill saw a 24mph gust just moments ago. 

Seattle's Queen Anne saw a 12mph gust.   Sustained at 8mph. 

Edmonds strongest gust still is at 29mph from earlier in the afternoon.  Sustained winds around 11mph.

Was of course hoping that I might see this post from Juiceless Joshua in Lake Oswego, but I figured I owed it to him to mention that after the latest deluge, Portland has now fully secured a wetter than average year in 2022. PDX was at 39.04" of rain and counting as of 5pm. Flirting with the 40s pretty soon!

Judging by radar the storm may finally be arriving. The westerlies are coming! The westerlies are coming! Raining pretty hard out there after a mostly dry day with 0.54" in the bucket so far.

Wind speeds are under-performing all over the Puget Sound at the moment.  The peak/bulk of the storm for the puget Sound is supposed to begin around 7pm and end in the early morning hours.  Some gusts, but the sustained winds are pretty weak at the moment.  Watching the Strait, as that might turn into a punching fist for some.

I definitely wasn't expecting the past three days to be as wet as it has but it really does remind me of our real deluges-- December 2015, November 1996, etc.

Pretty sure we had some gusts to 60 mph last night.  Broke my Seahawks flag pole, riled the dogs up, and woke up my 2 year old.  Pretty exciting stuff!!!

OLM gusted to 31 at 1614, they had another gust to 38 at 1754.

Today was one of the better rain/wind combos I can remember in quite awhile. Unusually steady rainfall for a 40+mph south wind event, which are typically accompanied by warm sector drying during the peak winds. Made it feel nice and coastal compared to most of our storms.

I'd suggest this site-- some good real-time observations with a variety of stations representative of a fair amount of local microclimates.

I thought exactly the same.  Especially driving this morning.  Sheets of rain with the wind blowing.

For some reason I was expecting more sunshine because that's typical (during daytime) south wind events.

I've been getting 20-30mph gusts here in Yelm this evening. Power has flickered a bit, but hasn't gone out. Yet.

I've gotta say this has been a flop here so far.  Very little wind.  Usually with this gradient angle it blows pretty good here.  There is always so much more involved in these things than just gradients though.

Good point.  Where I live southerlies and easterlies often cancel each other out as well.  Wind forecasting around here is TOUGH.

Yes indeed. SEA had gusts to 55 yesterday and 52 today.  That thing yesterday continues to mystify me.  Several minutes of high winds from Hoquiam all the way to Seattle.  Just came and went.

Amazing how close the ECMWF came to nailing this.  It showed that right around SEA would have the strongest winds and had it pegged right around 50.

The peak winds seem to have passed here in Lakewood. A few fir tree branches have fallen onto the golf course behind my house. Nothing too crazy though. Still have power.
