Contrary to what some East-coasters have said in the past, not too cold to snow, but rather all that cold results in a more suppressed track, and pushes things south. Frigid run though, to say the least. That's some very cold air hanging on in the BC interior, it just seems to lock in place even as the rest of the airmass slides east. That would lead to some very persistent outflow. Looks like the mid-weeks system is coming further north than the GFS. The 12z GEM brought that low in faster and kinda bombed out and went into Vancouver island.
