Except the forecasts and models show us getting dumped on unlike early-mid November.

True. Itll be wetter but does look like 7-10 days again of split flow towards the end of the month and into Feb.

Not that splitty. California stays dry. Jet stream pretty much aimed at the PNW the whole run. Look at the 300mb winds.

384hr map... little rain in CA south of Stockton and Nevada sans the northernmost parts gets almost nothing. Northern CA west of the South Cascades and Sierra is not a dry climate and the rainfall shown here is very typical for this time of year. In a split flow pattern they usually get absolutely drenched.

Not every instance of the PNW not getting rain in winter is a split flow pattern.

Currently 31.3 here. Should see some snow developing by morning.

Where's "here"? I seem to recall you mentioning Culver, Prineville, Madras, Mt. Scott, Brownsville, L.A. (hence the pine that's lurking there), and Lake Stevens, but I can't for the life of me remember where your current location is.

I know you're a brand new member but it definitely helps us if you put your location in your profile  :)

Wasn't there an Alaskan TPV pattern prior to this recent arctic cold blast?

Yeah, but it resulted in the legitimately cold air remaining bottled well north of the border.

For Minneapolis.

Hopefully for me. I’ve only had 2.6” of slop this winter and plenty of warm overnight lows.
