November 2023 Weather in the PNW

Tyler Mode

Recommended Posts

It looks like I've topped out at 38 here after a low of 25.  I had a high of 40 yesterday.  I am located on a property that rises a bit from NE to SW so in the winter I have a lot of shade in the afternoon.  Currently 37 with lots of frost still around and a very clear sky.

I’ve been waiting 5 years for a pattern like the one projected on the clown range GFS. 🤤

Sun is down below the hill now and the temp has dropped to 39. The ridges no more than a mile away will probably stay above freezing the next few nights while we drop into the 20s.

I kind of agree, but there is so much more to it like shrinking glaciers, and water for the reservoirs.  If we could have those things be ok I would be down with this kind of weather 80% of the time this winter with the other 20% snowing.

MN winter right there.  You could live on a lake with acres of property in northern MN... it would probably be an even trade for your house now.    Frozen wonderland and ice fishing for months on end.    👍

44 for a high here which is pretty nippy, but 39 is quite impressive.

44/26 for the day.  Month to date is running below normal for many places north of OLM now.

High ended up being 40 here. Almost a sub-40 high.

It’s impossible here. I don’t doubt it happens up there, though.

Some of your other observations are impossible but that’s a discussion for another thread/time. ;)

Literally none of my observations are impossible.   I only report what actually happens... just tend to focus more on the warm stats.  😀

There’s a 3.5-4 degree difference between one foot above my patio and 10 ft above my 2-story roof. 33.8 up high and 30.4 down low.

I get readings like that too. Combo of heat rising from the house and cold pooling on the ground.

On a related note, sometimes when CAD is being scoured out by a strong southerly LLJ, the wind gusts that mix down are drastically warmer than the surrounding air. So walking outside there’ll be warm/cold pockets that are easily 15°F apart if not greater. Crazy whiplash.

Down to 30F and nice and frosty. Beautiful night with Jupiter appearing right next to the moon.

Me and my girls noticed that tonight.  Didn’t realize it was Jupiter.  Large ring around the moon tonight.  That means it’s supposed to rain soon I think. 🤔

This cold snap is really tightening the screws on us now.  Many places well below freezing already tonight with locations east of the Cascades in the low 20s already.

That's why mornings in the mid to upper 30s can have frost.  BTW...proper placement is to have your temperature sensor 6 feet above the ground.
