December Weather In the PNW

BLI snowman

Recommended Posts

Unless things flip around 2nd half of the month, I'm looking at somewhat of a repeat of December 2011. Mostly dry, and some chilly/stagnant air days. Of course later that winter wasn't bad for snow statistically.

Current 10 day forecasts are completely dry for this area.

Such a beautiful day. The new office is a bit closer to river level.

Subjective opinion. Could be very ugly today!

That is really close to the river. Maybe an issue when there is flooding?

Is that .4” of snow or .4” of liquid falling as snow for Charlotte?

The graphics and legend that weather.us is using for the ECMWF surface products is pretty weird and doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Speaking from experience though, it's 0.4"-0.6 of liquid falling as snow or 4-6" of snow at Charlotte.

You flying out there tomorrow?

You better hope against a 1995-96 repeat now. ;)

I was told the water came about 6 inches from this level in 1996. 3 of our facilities in Keizer did flood during that event, but we did not begin operations as an organization until later that year. We do carry flood insurance on the properties.

Many members say that this winter will,be epic starting about January. A month ago,it was December, but who is counting? Now its January! Just keep waiting say the models!

Hardly anybody ever said December would be epic, most people have been saying January all along. Look at the post with winter forecasts.

You act like we never have cold winters. Where were you last year? Even the professionals back east have been saying we would be colder in January. Maybe not historic or epic, but a colder January is normal during La Nina.

I don't apologize for expecting a winter to follow analogs. I don't apologize for assuming Phil and snow wizard will be right. I also don't apologize for targeting Jesse. I don't apologize for riding models that project out over 3 weeks. I don't apologize for having my own opinion on anything.

If any of that makes you annoyed, sorry not sorry. React all you want. I find it that more funny.
