An inch of freezing rain on the gfs this morning here continuing the trend of thrursday’s event being snow to freezing rain. Any clue how damaging that much freezing rain would be?

Bad. Really bad. But pretty unlikely on the island. Never seen anything close to that here even when we transition out of strong arctic air masses

I’m encouraged that the euro and gem show mostly snow. What do you see happening in vic on Thursday?

3-7” of snow late Wednesday into Thursday morning. Maybe a brief period of ice pellets or freezing rain during the transitional to rain on Thursday morning.

A mostly snow yet rain/snow mix here at lake cushman 980’. Temp hovering around 33. I’m expecting it to change to snow as the day continues but the GFS is calling for over 2 feet by tomorrow 10am. I doubt that but I do expect a solid snow when the front finally makes it was through this evening. The trees lost a ton of snow last night as the temp stayed in the 33-34 range all night.

46 degrees here in Nw Norway today at the 63rd parallel. Makes me feel better about living on a west coast and that dang south wind killing the snow dreams. Happens up here even!  Saw the sun for the first time today!

there is still about a foot of snow on the ground, the roads are still messy in spots on backroads. The sun doesn’t touch them so snow and ice stick around much longer on them.

12-18 of snow a good bet. I miss living up there, that area can get huge snows.

Wind is strong now! My pure untouched snow is now getting violated by tree sheddings.
Some of the protected trees in the woods still have a little snow on them and my icicles are holding strong!

Insane winds last night, the snow in my back yard is littered with pine needles and other tree debris.  I could hear the needles hitting the windows on the south side several times as well.  Currently 44 and we have lost at least 20-30% of our snow.

NWS says a no go and no snow accumulation late tonight but the forecast for here right now is for rain and wind and it's dead calm with light snow falling. Couple things,  the south or se wind isn't exactly warm especially if your not upstream from a water trajectory and this storm coming in isn't warm and should have some very cold air aloft to work with when the front is stalled over the area. I think many places with transition to snow tonight.  And the ground is very cold so it will stick no problem.

Wind will kill snow faster than rain, pretty crazy to see. One time we went to lake Wenatchee to snowmobile and when we got there it was 30 degrees with 14 inches of snow. Overnight a warm downslope wind rushed in and totally killed all the snow, I almost cried when I woke up, terrible.

One thing I have learned is sometimes what appears to be a string of unfortunate events are actually a blessing in disguise.  Thank goodness that car is acting up now and not while you are crossing the pass in terrible weather.  Hopefully it ends up being an easy fix and you have a safe trip home.
