Beautiful sunny morning Corvallis, low of 34. So close to a freeze!

Ditto. The very top of our cars started to freeze but not on the windows. The low dropped to 33.9 here this am...so close.

Looks like the new GFS will be onboard at the end of November.  I know some paid sites have it now.

Not sure how to upload a pdf, so I just print screened the announcement

Is it on WB yet? If not then hopefully soon.

Hopefully will be better than the FV3 or MFR.

Don't know about WB but I just found it on weathermodels.com sort of hidden and I didn't know they had it until now.  Harder to use until it gets to be the operational

Here is day 7 on the new one:

“GFS overestimates the accumulated snow depth for mixed precipitation events with marginal temperatures…” Ya don’t say!

It's called clown range for a reason.

You know the model sucks (esp for our microclimates) when it says that in the description.

To all the east weather weenies!

La Nina conditions--which bring colder and wetter than normal conditions to our region, particularly after the New Year-- have strengthened and the NOAA Climate Prediction Center keeps La Nina around into mid-winter (see below).

I would love a transition year to neutral next year.  One more year of potential mayhem before El Nino rages.

Is it me or is today super dark?  Went to an eye exam at 10 and coming home around 11 it looked almost like dusk and not mid day.

It’s pretty gloomy here in Vancouver, too. Had to turn a few lights on about a half hour ago.

Beautiful sunshine here as well. I have noticed the leaves are finally looking more fall-like and are flying off trees today.

Its become much brighter here over the last couple of hours.    Seeing peaks of sun at times as well now.

The region is very split today with perfect sunshine to the south and clouds/rain to the north and west.   Typical warm conveyor belt set up.

Looks like we got down to 49 this morning 60 and breezy this morning first time we’ve hit 60 since 10/20.
Were at 1.10” of rain so far this month but the grass still hasn’t started greening up really. That might start to accelerate with the upcoming ARs and moist warm rainfall.

Yeah… cloudy Washington and sunny Oregon is not an uncommon pattern this time of year.

Think in one recent November (2018 or 2019) it was pretty much the default pattern.

Definitely in the warm sector now... south wind has kicked in and its sunny.   And our Japanese Maples are turning now.    They usually hold their color for 3-4 weeks but usually start in late September so will probably be accelerated this year.

The Euro looks pretty great at the end with the massive block in AK

The GFS's block is not as massive compared to the Euro, but it's a very strong one nonetheless.

Never say Never with Weather, because anything is possible!

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted

Just over two week difference...blowing dust ad smoke, to fresh snow!  It's a beautiful day around Portland!  Breezy south wind, 60 degrees.  Blue skies, fresh snow on the mountains.

It's a truly nice sunny day. Completely clean air without any lingering dust or smoke.

SEA is flirting with 60 today and will most likely ending the negative departure streak.

Today is already +3 in the books unless SEA drops well below 49 by midnight which seems impossible with the south wind roaring.
