PSA:
The NWS always appreciates observations, especially detailed observations that everyone on here is capable of giving. That can be done thru Twitter, as they often set up a feed for that, or the mPing app. That can include final snowfall amounts, when the snow starts/stops, precip type, dew point, etc
This helps them with short term forecasts as well as future forecasts as they can learn from them. A few years ago they had a freezing rain advisory for Leavenworth, but I notified
2021 I had solid snow cover from 12/24/21 through 1/8/22
2019 I had solid cover from 2/3/19 through 3/15/19
And 2018 I had solid cover from 2/18/18 through 3/1/18. I would love a repeat this coming season for any of those!
Had an epic day driving through Bryce Canyon and then up through UT-12 in central Utah. Hiked the hoodoos in Bryce…then drove through to rainbow point at 9118’. Still some snow on the higher peaks here. Some awesome terrain based thunderstorms popped up out of nowhere mid day. Experienced a temp drop from 60 to 35 and heavy graupel in Bryce! Truly epic stuff. Drove through UT-12 and escalante and that was awesome. Then went over boulder mountain at 9600’ and saw another awesome terrain based storm.
