Really, really lovely cumulonimbus action tonight! I just happened to have my drone in the car and got some solid shots of DT Seattle/Lake Washington/Mercer Island/Bellevue looking north from Skyway. Alas, the focal length of the lens doesn't do the vertical height justice and my WB was off rendering it into semi-gross HDR territory, but still... fun looking weather! It was quite windy- I was flying right at 390 ft and the drone was giving me all sorts of warnings about sustained winds/gusts.
A most incredible snow storm. At times the snowfall rates have been as heavy or slightly heavier than January 2017. Temp 27.5, Dewpoint: 27.1 with gusty east wind and very heavy snow continuing. I'm at 11 1/2" now! UNBELIEVABLE!!!! This pic does no justice at all.
NBM is quite an interesting product! Their weighting algorithm is moderately complex and dynamic, though does has some drawbacks as we saw yesterday. For those who don't know, NBM is an attempt by NOAA to create a super probabilistic forecast model that ingests output from all the models above and outputs forecast guidance for local offices that help them to gauge the relative odds of particular weather outcomes. The 'special sauce' is the post-processing, normalization and weighting that they d
Very true.
The crazy thing is that as an American, I have seen my vacation time actually DECREASE since being bought out by a French Company. The site I worked at got closed and folks got absorbed into another division, and in the process my almost 6 weeks of PTO (I worked there 18 years) with a 6.5 week cap, got cut down to 4.5 weeks.
The biggest thing I would love to see (not necessarily a French thing) would be a 4 day work week. My previous tenure at the company, I was salary and working with a Japanese customer. Since our Friday was their Saturday, we usually cut out about 1-2pm on Fridays.
I worked briefly for a refinery services company and they did the same thing, working 9-ish hour days Monday through Thursday, then on Friday we would check in for a few hours in the morning then the rest of the day was ours.
My current role, everything happens at 5pm on Friday.

Talk about a plan to ruin the value of the dollar. When he was president, the man threatened the Reserve Chair to keep interest rates low.
Today will make it 8 of the last 10 days featuring below normal temperatures. That ends tomorrow as temps soar into the high 70's and then 80's on both Monday and Tuesday! A slight shot at some showers today but a better chance on Tuesday. Temps should remain above normal in the mid 70's for much of the upcoming week.
Chester County Records for today: High 95 degrees at Sadsburyville (1915) / Low 26 degrees at Coatesville (1926) / Rain 2.45" at East Nantmeal (2007)
It looks like the midde of winter up in Snowbowl...25" of powder the last 2 days, 19" along just yesterday...another Foot or more today/tomorrow!
