Part II- January 2020 Obs and Discussion

Still a bit concerned by the radar, the band that should be producing that seems to be caught up further north. We need to see the radar fill in more to our west.

I think that band from the north will combine with the slight convergence off of Sooke to give us big rates by 8 pm.  Could be wrong but isn't that what the NAM has been hinting at?

Are you kidding me it’s raining.

I have a very big suspicion it'll switch back over with the colder air coming through.

Nope.

They seem just as wrong as me though in terms of forecasting our local weather.   And knowing my microclimate helps me immensely in terms of knowing what will happen here specifically.

Ok, here is the issue with this.  Yes.   You can do a better job of forecasting your area than the Pro's because you are focusing on a micro-climate you know intimately.  Can you imagine trying to supply that level of data to the public en masse?  That will require more technology than we have now.  They frustrate me, but they have very broad base to feed.  They have got a better job than mine.  They are doing something right.

Apparently Tim was suspended.

He wanted me to let everyone know his post about Bellingham's snow and the arctic air was meant to be sarcastic and that he got distracted from editing it by the Seahawks game getting more interesting.

I do hope that he is let back soon.

Snowing again here!  :)

I wouldn't want him to be permabanned but he was absolutely begging for a suspension. His posts were making the forum almost unreadable.

Its kind of interesting to watch the freezing line expand across Whatcom County.  I'm usually not sitting at a computer when these events happen.  Snow intensity has slowed so it is melting off the road.  Need that freezing line to get to my house, showing 32.4 on the weather station so its close!

We still have a decent shot at it given the outflow hasn't arrived yet, but is getting relatively close. I think the gap in the radar is missing some of the stuff west of Duncan.
