Speaking about wild temperature spikes, it was almost freezing at 2 am. By 7 it was 54F out with winds gusting to 25 mph. Now it's back down to 47F. Guess we'll end up with another +10 degree high for December.

An fb friend is reporting a mix in Nw Portland at 850’.  Probably a nice winter scene at my old place at 1500’.

12z GFS is the perfect holiday gift. Nice shift towards the EPS solution in the stratosphere re: amplitude of wave-1. GFS still wants to propagate the anticyclone in Canada while the EPS has the Eurasian solution (which is more interesting imo) but at least there’s decent agreement on a legit SSW event now.

The temp has been dropping slowly. Maybe there is some hope at my 170ft.

It’s no Hoth, but living where I do I’ll take it. Unbelievably the 2/3” of snow managed to stick around through Christmas morning, albeit in the form of scattered strings of white ice chunks strewn throughout  the shaded, cooler surfaces.

That's a lot better than 33-35 degree rain all day long. That happened close to Xmas in Wilsonville when I was there in 2015. Pretty miserable. 

If I'm expecting rain I'd want it to be 60*
