Hmmm… that shows most lowland areas from Portland north getting something.

The 12z EPS continues the idea of a possible block developing just before New Years.  The control is really on it.

I started to have them while I was conscious back when I was 3 or so. Would start moving my arms up and down and it became difficult to control. Once I started to get made fun of in school for it, I tried to suppress my movements and it led to my brain feeling like it had thunderstorms in it so I’m always super clumsy and it’s extremely difficult for me to remember things. It’s gotten worse since August, 2008 and I’ve had 2 surgeries and I now have a cybernetic implant that is helping somewhat. I still move around a lot so I try to stay indoors and away from people who would feel nervous around me. I have most of my major ones at night but my tongue is calloused from biting it so much and my crossbite makes my speech all weird so I got made fun of for that too. Much like the frat in college, y’all have given me someone to interact with and not feel out of place. Thanks for that.

I had one experience in 11th grade where after pulling 2 all-nighters in a row (over 60 hours w/o sleep) the third night I tried to sleep my arms were making involuntary movements, or jolts. Few minutes into drifting off I was shaky, kept having to get up and walk around to get rid of it. Ended up taking half that third night to completely fall asleep.

I read up about a guy some 30-40 years ago did a self experiment going 11 days without sleep. I feel like I never got 100% of that person's story. How can you go that long and not go into a coma or not have a grand-mal.

Or maybe the brain is just so complex that not a single person is the same.

On that EPS control it appears a low is going to cut off and end up underneath the developing block.  Very easy to envision that going places.

Though to be honest the map is forecasting about an inch for PDX, which usually translates into just a dusting.

I'm guessing the ECMWF must have a surface low tracking fairly far south to bring lowland snow.  Might be doable with that one cold trough.

Nice coat of snow on Larch and the lower foothills to the east visible, now that it’s clearing out.

It's reassuring to see this mini cold snap at this point.  The typical MO before a really good round of winter weather is to have progressively more impressive warning shots beforehand.

We have the exact same progression being shown on all of the big three ensembles now over the next 15 days.  Nice to see the agreement.

I think that’s just the normal pattern of seasonal transition, of it getting progressively colder as fall transitions to winter.

In 2010, 2012 and 2015 I had some real nice late-Dec snowfalls and cold. After that not so much.

I’ve always loved that effect during offshore flow.🥰😍🥰😍😻

Of course the most memorable dynamic of a similar nature was during the 1989 blast when an unheard of amount of freezing spray occurred.  It’s been a heartbreaking search for VHS footage of the event that went missing several years ago. 😢😢😢

I’m still quite bummed that my December 1990 VHS footage went missing in the late 1990’s. 🥺 Still have my January 1996, November 1996, December 1996, and December 1998 coverage however!!

We found footage from our November 1985 snow/ice storm, December 1990, January 1993...

The 1989 stuff, which was by far the most impressive is a complete mystery. My folks remodeled a couple years ago and we were out there spreading the virus and helping quite a bit.  I figured for sure it would pop up but no luck.  I think the disappearance of that footage has led directly to the persistence of the Indian Ocean warm pool.😢😢🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️😟😟☹️☹️😡😡🤬🤬
