February Snowfalls 2/10-2/12, Part III & IV

Models were pretty adamant that western areas would hold onto air longer with easterly flow.

I didn't want to say anything earlier, but it never looked real good for Jim's area...though he was closer to being in the right spot than people just a bit further south.

He is getting warming from the SE through Enuwclaw right now.   Need wind to switch back to east.

24 degrees here in Ravensdale (Kanaskat Palmer), 18-20 inches on ground, east wind crushing us and heavy snow. Truly incredible

Man. I’m just about 5-10 miles to your WNW and had it flip to rain about 90 minutes ago. Goes to show how close SnowWiz and I were to something great!

Edit: just flipped back to snow while I was typing this!

SEA has probably picked up 3-4"+ of additional accumulation today. It's a very wet, heavy snow so it's not reflected in the additional 2" added to the snowpack...but they already had 2" new snow at 1 pm, and have had about .35" precip in the form of heavy snow since then.

Still absolute dumping in Tacoma's North Slope.  Easily 15" on the ground now, possibly more.  Absolutely NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I notice the cams in Tacoma went from wet to blankets of snow now. The precip rates must be helping. Pretty amazing.

There is definitely a warm nose peaking NE into King County over Kent, Auburn, Covington and south end of Maple Valley. Areas to the west and farther north doing well.

Snow has found its stride here and been dumping buckets for an hour and a half at a consistent rate.

18z gets us pretty chilly again mid range and beyond.

Hard to believe it but days 10-12 looks to have a decent chance at another blast which could be more backdoor'ish.

I have been caught off guard by how many people have just enjoyed it and have been rooting for more, save for one cranky lady at the bakery I frequent.

I love it! Lived for 5 years in Leavenworth and miss the snow - our neighborhood here has a lot of fun, snowmobiles, quads and assorted ATVs are having a blast

I can concur with Fred. It is dumping in Everett at 31°. Was out by Granite Falls a bit ago and the flakes were small but they were persistent. Noticed a 3-4 temp drop while traveling. You guys might be onto something with the downsloping.

This fat bird is hogging all the seed from the littles. Bully.

Snow falling like crazy again after a 20min lull.

IDK if anyone mentioned this, but Sea Tac now reporting a depth of 8". So they've been adding snow while it has been above freezing the whole time. That is some heavy snow!

Down to 29 now here in South Everett!

It's clear the normal bias of scouring out cold air too quickly is occurring. The question is how long this will hold on for.

Seeing reports of rain in Downtown Seattle but will likely go back to snow with heavier precip.
