Bummer for folks in Western Oregon. Another border hugger event.

Yeah and with the system coming earlier, the GFS is convinced my location will get a lot of snow through hour 216 but my area doesn't get cold until Wednesday so it's a bit of a bummer thus far. NWS says my high on Tue could flirt with 40.

Probably even worse for the WV because you all have been the focal point the last week. Still time to change.

Garfield County/Pomeroy, WA:

2023-2024 Snowfall totals: 14.3 inches

HIghest snow total (per event): 5.8 inches total 1/11/24 - 1/12/24.

Most recent accumulation (non trace): 0.20 inches on 2/26/24

Days with  trace or more snowfall: 12/01/23 (0.60), 1/8/24 (1.0), 1/10/24 (3.5), 1/11/23 (3.5 inches with Thundersnow; separate event from prior day), 1/12/24 (2.30). 1/14/24 (T), 1/17/24 (1.20 inches), 1/18/24 (1.5 inches), 1/19/24 (0.20), 2/09/24 (0.30), 2/26/24 (0.20-mainly graupel), 4/5/24 (T)

First Freeze: 10/27/2023

Last Sub freezing Day: 1/20/24 (12th) (8 days in a row from 1/12/24-1/20/24)

Coldest low: -12F (!!!!!!!!) (1/12/24)

Last White Christmas: 2022 at my location (on ground)

Not really. The WV only had two inches through this run on the 18z at the same time.

Yeah I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Not a single run has had the WV scoring much before day 8. Why are people acting like this is some huge rug pull? The good part was never shown to be that far south yet in this part of the run.

Nvm. Looks worse for Seattle north. Shades of 2020

When people are nervous that something isn't going their way, they try to find reasons to back up why they're nervous

Coldest temp this winter: -7 Jan 13th

Snow depth at Mount Bachelor (last updated March 27th) 107"

Snow depth at my home (updated March 27th): none

23-24 seasonal snowfall at home (updated March 27th): 84"

UUUUHHHHHHH......91 pages and we are only 3 days in?

Feel like that is some sort of record or something.....

It's only equivalent to 45 pages yesterday.

Naw it's not even that. I think it's that the GFS had like 4 runs in a row with like 30in of snow so expectations were over the moon. Nobody expected it to happen but we could hope.

If a model run like this had popped up out of the blue a couple weeks ago we would all be super excited about it lol. Now that it’s compared to some of the fantasy runs it doesn’t seem so great.

The 00z GEM is not backing down. It has higher verification scores than the GFS. Everybody changes over to snow next Thursday night as the Arctic Front drops down through Oregon. 🧊☃️🥶

If feel like the GFS is just doing GFS things. The GEM still looks great and if the Euro still looks good later I think we will be fine.

This run is just so... stagnant? Some brief easterlies, but it's just cold-- no overrunning, no undercutting, nothing. Hopefully next few models don't show a solution like this

The GEM is better than the GFS inside of like 5-6 days. After that it’s a toss up.

This GFS run is not very good for Western Oregon.

Hardest thing for us to get is cold. As long as models keep showing cold, the precip can and will change as we lead up to the event

Everyone needs to read this.  I just pointed out that tonights run is colder then the one everyone went crazy about last night, but you would think it was way warmer based on some reactions.

And snow totals mean nothing at this point.

Which is fine if it was just us weather idiots. But if you look at how many guests are lurking, I think we should be a little more honest. WHICH MEANS if you don't really get what is going on, then just say that. Don't throw around "THAT SUCKED!" just so someone will explain that it didn't.

Just ask "Hey, how does everyone feel about that run? I'm not totally sure what the variations mean big picture." Trust me, no one will judge you. In fact, it tends to make people like you more.

Brian is right, this run is better across the board than the same run at the same time yesterday. We are still solidly on track for some legitimate winter weather (finally).

This run is pretty good for Washington but not nearly as good for the Willamette Valley.
