I never have either…But I am hoping to one day get offered a free upgrade just to see what it’s like. But I also do not fly very often so it will probably never happen. I hate flying.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

It's pretty nice. But it was a lot better before Covid when you got the hot towel too.

When I was a DINK, I would fly FC to Boise a lot. One way tickets were often as low as $89 or $99, so I jumped on that a lot.

I've only flown in FC once outside of flights between Seattle and Boise. I used Delta miles to upgrade on a segment from Salt Lake to Pittsburgh.

Speaking of flying, I went to Paine Field last weekend to watch planes land. I was hoping there would be some condensation vortexes off the wings and I was not disappointed.

Airplanes are awesome.

Delta use to upgrade me occasionally but I lost status when biz travel came to a halt in 2020.  I've been on one biz trip in 2 years, lol. sat in coach.

I like Delta since I can use miles to upgrade seats I've already purchased. Alaska doesn't allow that, but now I have status with Alaska since they made it so easy in 2020/2021. I'm only an MVP though, so I doubt I'll ever get upgraded.

I flew Jet Blue to Boston a lot before Covid killed business travel. Free wifi, free tv and movies, and all the snacks and pop you can shove in your face. Love Jet Blue, just wish they flew more places from Seattle so I could use all my miles.

I experienced wind chills in the -60’s Fahrenheit a few times in college. (Utah State University, campus is at the mouth of a canyon, affected by drainage winds, was during a run of cold winters in the 1980’s). Suffice to say it’s cold. A balaclava is a necessity if you don't want frostbite. Always laugh at people wearing balaclavas in the PNW when temps are well above zero. Folks here have no idea of what real balaclava weather is like.

Truth.  I got to fly business class once....from Tokyo to Nagoya which was about the the same as flying from Paine Field to Portland.  Even that short of a flight ruined me.  That said, it's always fun to see stuff you quote/design/manufacture.

49 for the high today.

Spring fever, turned off the heat during the day opened the windows and slider and let the breeze blow through the house.

and I still have a stubborn patch of snow in the front yard from over a month ago that won't melt.  it gets zero sun. it softens up every day and refreezes every night

52/41 today. Weathers been incredibly boring since mid January. Just 0.65” of rain since 1/14…with not much coming for now.

I’m sure we’ll need every single drop of rainfall we had in the fall and winter for this upcoming spring/summer.

who knows, maybe a torchy/dry Feb will bode well for the spring but I’m skeptical.

At least December and early January were fun. I’m sure we will do just fine with rainfall either later this month or into spring.

Won't be feeling that for another two to three months up this way.

Also haven't you said before that March averages more snowfall than December in your area? Crazy to think your winter may just be getting started in a month, right when ours is pretty much over and done with. I checked the NOAA nowdata for your forecast office (Sterling) and y'all have record min highs in the low 20s well into March; this despite being 10° South of Seattle.

Since there are so many paths to dynamic warming here (downsloping, oceanic radiation, enhanced mixing), our winter potential is largely a function of sun angles+the ambient warming they provide over the course of the season. Ironically enough this means that in the right year Seattle can be the first to cash in on those cold air masses from the north in November, while y'all out east are waiting their turn. When we had our cold airmass in late Dec, my house had more snowfall than Boston at that point in the season. Obviously that's changed in a big way, but it's crazy how delayed your seasons are over there.

I guess the trade-off here is that -50°F giga-airmasses are reduced to +23°F highs... 🥴🙃

It feels like we're beginning 2015 all over again with how constant this ridging is. Troughing is fought over tooth and nail and is immediately paid for by another week of ridging. This is La Niña right???
