NAM trended windier for Tuesday. Will be an interesting night of model riding with the potential windstorm and cold opportunities in the long range.

Short answer was that no one wanted Suzuki's/Isuzu's as Suzuki's/Isuzu's, and no one wanted a Suzuki/Isuzu's with a Geo badge either.   GM's cheap attempt to capture the import craze was just not enough.  Most of the cars were too small and had odd 'Japanese-isms' that American buyers didn't care for.  Today we look back on them as neat oddities.  Sure they got great mileage, but they were pretty tight inside with pretty cheap materials... very cheap materials.

Probably the best selling Geo's were the Tracker, which was a Suzuki Sidekick, and the Geo Prizm, which was a rebadged Toyota Corolla.  Even after GM ended Geo, they actually made a few rebadged Corolla's as the Chevy Prizm.  Very strange history for this brand indeed. Also the iconic Geo Metro!  The car of champions!

Okay, I will stop being the car nerd/historian now.

Isn't the old joint Toyota/GM plant in California that made all those cars the one that is now producing Teslas?

Imagine how cheap the materials are going to be once they make all vehicles electric.  To bring the cost down they will be held together with duct tape and bailing wire, all to appease a small segment of the population.

I love owning my EV. I never have to buy gas or oil, and energy is 3 to 4 times cheaper per mile. Only problem is it's an old Nissan Leaf and I can only go 70 miles before I need to recharge. Good city vehicle though. The materials is another question. EVs require a lot of lithium, iron, and copper. But ICEs also require materials and have high operating costs. Best solution IMO is a mix of different vehicles for different needs.

Last post on the subject here, happy to discuss on the off topic section.  There is very little positive about the batteries.  Snake oil.  All I will say here.

This is what the station near me recorded for this cold snap

12/20: 47/36

12/21: 42/23

12/22: 23/20

12/23: 29/20

12/23: 43/29

The high of 23 degrees was really impressive, especially considering there was basically no precip until late in the day and it was a midnight high. The temp dropped from 42 to 23 on the 21st very fast which was really impressive. No teens unfortunately but a very solid event for cold.

The best solution is one where private vehicles are seized.

This event from Monday night to Tuesday keeps getting interesting! I do dislike winds during the night. I guess it's PTSD of going through hurricanes during the night. Wind roaring and trees falling and not knowing where since the power it's gone.

It is just ridiculously warm outside right now. Currently only 56F, but it peaked at 58F a couple hours ago. Warmer outside at this time than a majority of the days this summer (including most of the heat wave days with highs over 80F).

thinking about going to the coast to see the windstorm/surf...westport. maybe a bit south. any suggestions for places to stay for a night along the coast? thanks in advance!

Really enjoyed 24 hours of fun with this windstorm (October 24, 2021),  Stayed in Westport with plenty of local location to take in storm!  Got a bit wet that day and pummeled by the wind!  Pummeled so hard I woke up the next day feeling like I had the flu with body aches….serious on this note!  We also lost electricity at the hotel (you can rent cabins as well)  but I came equipped for a blackout and stocked with food!   Twas a great time!

Our car thermometer touched 60 for a minute through Mt. Vernon around 9 p.m.

Also hit some torrential rain around Everett.     Here at home its only 45 with no wind at all and not raining yet.   Quite a bit of snow melt today here.

Yeah drove home from my wife’s Aunts place in Kirkland about an hour ago, it was dumping the entire way until Arlington.

Yeah it looks good for the time of year. Though that area gets zero foot/paw traffic on it so that helps.

My oven went out on Friday just before holiday cooking because the power kept serging all day. Tomorrow I need to call about getting a repairman.  I am sure it isn't going to be cheap. I can't afford any more problems even though I used to think storms were fun but that was before I was a property owner. I am hoping for no more ice storms or damaging winds. Thank you very much.

The stories coming out of Buffalo are crazy... numerous people died being trapped in their cars.

Looks like its going to be in the 50s there as well by next weekend.    Weather whiplash across the entire country.
