A bit of a personal post on my end. This was a few years in the making but had to postponed several times due to the passing of my mom during Covid and obviously the continuation of Covid until we are safe to travel. And also why I made this trip back to the home country for the first time in 20 years.
This was taken at Central Highlands of Vietnam in Da Lat early morning. The fog and mists was just like home.
It rained pretty much all day in Tulsa. I had 1.23", I see the airport had 1.73" and there was a station north of town with over 3".
I've had 8.37" in the last 2 weeks so it's been a pretty incredible stretch. Probably some more with Monday night's stuff too!
Looks like we might put up a couple more lows in the 30s this week before the warmth comes.
One thing about this very cool weather is it doesn't bode well for the mid section of the country at all. These cold troughs in the NW have been the fuel for the severe weather there.
Those who work at SPC and I follow on twitter are certainly saying this is the highest risk event of the year so far so yes, definitely possible. The one thing that may hold them back is that models are not showing a ton of convection over central/southern OK so they may not have the confidence to go high if there is any question the cap may not break. We will find out soon enough!
I agree on the gloom part... but for me the cold max is just insult to injury. I actually don't mind 60s and rain in the warm season. I can do without 40s.
