Yeah just a brief cool down. Who knows long range could absolutely change and perhaps models in 2-3 days reveal that. I hope.

General rule is, short term improvements beget long term improvements. Usually works out in the winter.

150 hours is the closest thing to a "short term" we've had in a month, so I'm just going to take what I can get here.

Drizzly mornings for the last few days, sometimes smoggy with the occasional east winds. Quite pleasant afternoons though. I'm perfectly okay with this as long as a freak new fire doesn't start. Be careful what you wish for in the PNW.

had one in a corner outside above our front door last year like that, stuck around until we had a low in the lower 30s in late october and poof was gone.  didn't come back this year so probably went somewhere and died.  (not sure what spider life spans are but this one looked old)

12Z GFS is on board... similar to the ECMWF.     At some point the ensembles have to start showing that ULL digging solidly into the PNW.    The 06Z EPS was even weaker than its 00Z run.

Setting yourself up for a major disappointment already this season. 

Maybe I am the foolish one, but it sure seems a little premature to be forecasting an awesome winter off of a couple of maps after this long dry streak that up until these few maps seemed to go to Spring.

At least inversion season should be starting, plus it is dripping wet outside this morning.
