bainbridgekid
Yep. This setup is nothing like those that led to occasional dry cold air intrusions like Dec 2009.Definitely. Anytime the upper level cold is coming in from the NW rather than the NE and you have a gradual move from onshore flow to offshore flow, good things tend to happen. Chewbacca Defense
Fraser outflow gradient already starting to pick up. Shows here as nearing -6mb, last official to NWS was -3mb at 08z. NWS expects peak at 21-23mb late tomorrow afternoon. That needs to keep on or ahead of progress. Can someone help me out with this graphic? I know it has to do with the pressure differential, and can be used to determine the wind potential, but per the message with this.... "Shows here as nearing -6mb, last official to NWS was -3mb at 08z." "NWS expects peak at 21-23mb late tomorrow afternoon" I just see a D**n bar graph....and poorly rendered one at that. The red and blue row of numbers at the top? Help? If there is a website or youtube video that explains it I would be good with that. I have developed a pretty good idea of what the maps from the models are showing, but this piece of information continues to elude me (that and the Skew-T....I understand the basics of the main plot with temp over altitude but don't have a clue about the rest of it...) VancouverIslandSouth
18z NAM looks to be just a touch further south with the CZ than the 12z. Wow, shows 4" here in Victoria. Don't usually see a CZ up here, I guess it's the outflow meeting up with the WNW flow down the Juan de Fuca. Looking at observations around the province, Hope has fallen below freezing is now experiencing outflow conditions with snow. Lytton is a chilly 14F with strong northerly winds. Bella Bella on the Central BC Coast is 17F with strong NE winds. Whistler is down to 23F with strong NE winds. The outflow is close now, it won't be long before it races down the Fraser Valley.
