Not in Whatcom County.  Wind gust of over 100 MPH.  Not much snow at all.

Yeah, outflow areas almost always deal with that.

Overall though, Feb 1989 was a very snowy arctic front for most areas as it moved through.

Yeah... I totally missed that.   I see SEA had 6 inches and there was 8 inches out here.   For some reason I always thought 1989 was a dry arctic front situation.   Totally wrong.

Peaked a 112 here, then the following morning got all the way down to 49, so we had a 63 degree range in 24 hours

Silver Falls hit 108, broke their all time record by 5. I was in San Diego where the high was 75ish.

@snow_wizard isn’t the reason that Denny and the others moved from Alki across the bay because they got blasted with an Arctic north wind and were like efff that. Got any research about a cold winter 1851/1852??

Actually a pretty mild winter by the standards of that era. Fort Steilacoom had their coldest temp in March that year. 19 degrees on the 16th.

The incredible thing about 1990, at least in the south sound, was the north wind. It accelerated over the open water areas and hammered north facing shorelines. The road along Redondo in Federal Way was washed out by wave action.

I’ve witnessed the power of these waves down at Redondo when the northerly winds blow!!! The boardwalk was also ripped apart later during one of these events.  Didn’t know about the one you posted as i still lived in Oregon.  Thanks for sharing !!

Nov 15, 2021 I caught this action at Redondo.., my footage made the news on Komo :)

it’s video so may not play for all pending your device

Yeah good thing you didn’t plan it 6-8 days later. It got to 116 unofficially here on the 28th. Guessing it was a little cooler at least in PA.

We got central A/C installed in our house about 10 days before that event.  That sucker pretty much ran non-stop during the peak of the event.

Ozzy was into the occult right? Maybe? Name of the album... BLIZZARD of Ozz.  What is the other name for Seattle?  The Emerald City.  Its coming.

And for all you youngsters with your rap music, it was sampled here

So many comments people missed my connection from Ozzy to Seattle seeing a blizzard.

Early March had a huge snow even that winter, but fairly mild overall.  Dec 1852, however, was top drawer cold and snow.

Different evolution though.   It only goes out to 180 hours (12Z and 00Z runs).
