All this Hood River talk made me curious about what they saw in Jan 1950. So I went ahead and looked, and there's too much going on to elegantly jot down in one post. Instead I made this graphic.

Hood River bottomed out at -21 officially on 2/3/1950. Their all time record low is -27 on 12/13/1919 following the 31" blizzard.

Unfortunately those numbers have been scrubbed from the NOAA records as part of their recent, somewhat egregious quality control effort which removed some pretty legitimate looking numbers that could easily be corroborated by other nearby accounts and observations from the time.

Now I am enjoying this on the deck with dinner. Will probably regret tomorrow.

The grass is so green this summer that for the first time ever I can't pinpoint the spots I have peed outside in the yard while hanging outside!!  Normally there is a bunch of green bullseyes amidst the brown lol!!

Everett is a secret gem in the summer.  It topped out at 71F today and its ow 62F.  Possession Sound was packed with boats today and the marina was rip-roarin' busy! Long range forecast looks like bliss of mostly low 70s and even a 68 thrown in there.

Not getting a hangover can actually be a sign of progressive alcohol tolerance and dependence. Just sayin'.

I’ve never had one, though. Not even a hint of it.

Which is probably what enabled my bouts of alcoholism during my teens/early 20s. Have learned to manage better now, but still have to be careful.

Hood River seems nice too

Hood River has a stellar climate for being near sea level. Quite possibly the best lowland PNW climate. It is just barely on the eastside, giving it plenty of moisture bleedover yet they can get just as cold as places farther east.

Too bad a tin roof shed there costs $750k.

You live in a desert area... this summer is definitely exceptional.     Your area only averages 5-6 inches of rain during JJA.   The biggest worry is usually a lack of rain and everything dying.   The WA coastal area is know for its scorching summers.  😀

? What was the point of this post?  Seems like a waste of time and words, only counts as a post, which I guess is important to "some".

0z GFS shows another major trough and rain mid month.  A sustained period of sunny / warm weather is looking like it might be hard to pull off this summer, but we still have August which has been on an insane roll for hot weather.  This could be the year we might break the streak though.

I like troughs like that.  Has that look of a pattern that brings decent cold in the winter.
