Getting the Pacific shut down in January is a pretty big deal these days.

Pretty great run. I think we could see something good late month into February

So while doing the rounds and looking at forecasts and what not, I stumbled upon something non-weather related from out ABC news affiliates in Seattle and Portland.  They have a new button at the top right corner in the shape of a video game controller.  You click it and it takes you to a game page?  What the actual, what?

The only difference between the two was that KOMO had a special banner for Seattle while KATU in Portland was just generic all around.  So we including games on our local news channel sites now?  Lol!

Really not a whole lot going on tonight.  Some heavy rain over Vancouver Island and entering the Lower Mainland.  Some snow/rain mix in Yakima and around Spokane, with rain falling in Spokane proper. Besides the NW corner of Oregon, there is nothing going on in the state tonight.

Looks like Eug has dropped to 34 this morning.

CFS monthly now solidly chilly for February. Looks like an onshore flow signature. But maybe I am wrong.

Oh boy that's the kind of storm that buries us up here. I got 14" of snow on Saturday and have 7" so far this morning with another 6" or so expected today. Season total now over 170"

If we don't get an extended break till at least mid Feb we are in big trouble up here. This is turning into one of the big seasons like 1968-1969, 2010-2011 etc.

your climo is so boom or bust down there it’s crazy. It’s literally historic drought or historic snows and flooding no in between.

Low of 42 this morning with no rainfall since midnight. Up to 2.43” MTD just slightly below average for this point in the month.
Have definitely noticed the days getting a little bit longer…particularly in the mornings on my way to work. Just means that the annual February freeze is coming after the January thaw.

About 1.5” over the weekend. Not bad. Overall a fairly dry water year so far. Bet we make up this spring.

One year ago today my snow pile was almost gone. Two years ago today I was on day 4 of no power. 3 years ago today the snow was starting to melt.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Great day yesterday up at Mt. Hood Meadows. 28-30 all day long with steady powder falling. First time skiing for me.

Even if you're not heavily into winter sports, I highly recommend taking periodic winter trips up to the mountains. We're really blessed to have such close access to such winter beauty and it's always a cathartic break from the winter monotony and grime of the cities.

Having close access to mountains is one of the blessed features of our region . Despite the fact that it screws us over. 😂
