I still hate it here but it’s a nice treat that today might score well. Fife does so poor with marginal events, it’s 34 and somehow it’s full snow compared to the 33 cold rain the other night. Weather is wack.

18z NAM is also already pretty wrong with snow totals in the area. Seems to have gotten the snow/no snow line pretty good. Don't know if this has any implications for the rest of today.

I think we'll see more development on/off for some time to come. But we've extracted most of the wet bulb potential out of the airmass already so unless precip rates get to explosive levels, we're probably not looking at much further cooling.

If it looks like snow, it's probably just snow. It takes a while for snowflakes to melt, so 34 degrees is often still cold enough at the surface for precip to be fully snow. If it's mixing with rain or looks a bit like small hail, then that's probably melting enough to become ice pellets (sleet).

When it was 39 this morning and a rain snow mix, I figured there wouldn't be much today.  Well, appear to be in a sweet spot now with heavy wet snow and about an inch of accumulation n Fircrest.

No doubt the moisture plume is a tad north of what was modeled.  Nice stream pointed at King and North Pierce Counties.

Wow. Was not really expecting it to be this bad. Had a friend spin through an intersection on 23rd and Shaw halfway up to south hill, so my wife went to pick her up in our Pathfinder while I was out plugging up holes in our crawl space, and she spun through the same intersection! It’s now snow over a sheet of ice. Be careful out there. I’m walking to go get them and see if I can get the car back safely to our house. 
 

Almost an inch already. Roads were clear prior, but other surfaces still had a bit of accumulation that hadn’t melted.

UW radar loop shows the moisture feed from central WA breaking up... but the blob of moisture over the South Sound just keeps regenerating and backfilling.

The Central WA feed breaks up and then comes back together again.  It's picking up here so we'll see.
