I am probably a doofus, but I thought stratospheric sulfate emissions cooled the earth by reflecting incoming shortwave radiation back to space?

Correct, cools the troposphere via the absorption, scattering, and reflection of solar radiation in the stratosphere. However the absorbed portion of solar radiation in the stratosphere leads to a warming there.

I saw 1962 mentioned earlier. That was a really good, underrated winter. It gets overshadowed by some of the other winters of its era, but if it occurred today it would probably stand apart from anything we've seen in the past 30 years.

Just in this area... There was a pretty significant cold snap in December: Salem put up a 32/15 day on the 11th and Silver Falls was 34/13.

January had a major arctic outbreak: Salem bottomed out at 8 and had 5 sub-freezing highs. Silver Falls had a low of 2 and a 24/9 on another day.

February had one of the greatest late season arctic outbreaks. Salem bottomed out at 10 and Silver Falls had two consecutive lows in the single digits with an 8 on the 26th and a 9 on the 27th. It is their latest single digit readings on record.

Then there was some lowland snow beginning of March and a huge snow event up here. The park also had a decent snow event around the 10th too.

The winter had some pretty significant torching at times too.

FYI you normally need to be at a new job for 6 months or more for a mortgage to go through. You can get pre approved for a loan using your current job but when they do the final checks when closing on a house the banks freak out if you move jobs.

Definitely some improvement on the GFS ensembles. Still hasn't quite caught up to the EPS, but getting there.

I’m in the mortgage industry. There is no specific requirement for time on the job unless the income is variable or derived from self-employment. The bottom line is whether the income is stable and likely to continue. You can technically close a loan with just an executed job offer from a new employer with some caveats. I would always want to see at least the first paystub in addition to that.

That's good info to know. Where the requirements ever tighter just after the 2008 crash? I got my loan in 2010 and it was crazy how many hoops I had to jump through. They even wanted a signed letter from my employer to confirm that I could work remotely.

Yea, they really tightened up after the crash. Guidelines are more reasonable now and predatory products and practices are forbidden. Of course, like the law, underwriting and regulatory guidelines can be interpreted somewhat subjectively.

Homemade breakfast sandwich, applesauce

Hey we had breakfast for dinner too!! Probably why I crashed so hard before EPS came out, which never happens.
