Today took my monthly average from 59.0 to 58.5.  Nice drop for one day.  Still absurd though.

I still find the 49/43 at Downtown Portland on 9/29/2019 amazing

It was sure disappointing how that lead to such a lame winter.  Normally a crash like that in the autumn bodes well for winter unless it's a Nino.  I think we had a decent cold snap in October that year too.

There were two good cold snaps in October I think. And then another event where Eugene was 34/21 in late November.

Some of those are pretty shocking actually.  Skykomish is only about 1000 feet I think.  Maybe 1500.

Doing a deep dive on ENSO it appears this Nina isn't going anywhere soon.  OLR 5N to 5S - 160W to 160E is still cranking along, and the subsurface anoms are holding remarkably steady.  It's a dead standoff between the cold subsurface water in the east and the warm water in the west.  This is about the most static I have seen it as far as the anomalies staying put.

It supposed to hold through November then begin fading.  But a Nina with a -PDO seems to be the ticket for really warm weather during the warm season lately.

Didn't quite make it to Bozeman on my road trip this summer.  Really wanted to but it was just too far east.  Dropped south at Butte on our way to West Yellowstone and Jackson Hole.  Someday I want to visit your beautiful city.  Maybe in the winter too to experience all that winter has to offer.

Bozeman has changed and grown (and gotten insanely expensive!) so incredibly much just since we moved here almost 6 years ago but we still love it! It's truly a gorgeous place to live anytime of the year and the winters are stunning with snow on the ground from early November until mid March. The winter sports community is also very big here which makes the long winters just that much more enjoyable.

You just had to go north a bit more.  We had 32” that winter. ⛄️

We almost moved to Bozeman when I was a kid. We went there to visit some friends who had moved there from the Portland area and were just blown away by the experience, the beauty, the town, everything. We could have been neighbors or something!

Took it all in at Discovery with some friends today. We were all so antsy during this summer and fall for the return of cooler weather. Just HAD to get out there to celebrate. :)

Oh wow that’s crazy how close you came to moving here! Too bad cause property would have been SO cheap back then! Bozeman growth was pretty stagnant in the 80’s and 90’s before the 2000’s and of course the mass Covid migration.😏

57F here, which is the coldest we have gotten. Low temp about +6F higher than the normal average for the date. Looks like we will be about a +10F on the day.

Not sure what the big deal is about this pattern change temperature wise. Seems like warmer than normal standard fall weather.
