Wow a lot of drama.  The reality is that for people who have lived here a long time we have family all over the NW.  Lots of people move back and forth. We are bonded by our similar environment and culture. Wash. has the sound, OR has the ocean beaches, we both have lots of mountains and desert. I grew up in SW Wash. and have lived in Oregon since the mid-80s.  We're cousins not enemies. Let's just give each other a big hug.

Begged one of my best friends to not leave for work tomorrow morning, but he insisted he knows how to drive in the cold. It's a real problem... People have no idea. It's been two and a half decades since the last impactful ZR event in Seattle, and one since the last event at all. People don't even know what it is, let alone the magnitude of what is coming.

It isn't drama, it is all in good fun.  This crap all goes back a long way, just a way to pass the time.  I want cold and snowy for everyone..........everyone but Tim, he is a ****.

I know you guys like to joke. I am concerned about the weather for people who don't know about this kind of weather. Portlanders generally know to stay off the road. Even walking is a problem. I have had many bad fall on my butt. I can't afford to do that any more.

Yeah I knew it was definitely digital, but I thought I read somewhere that it was encrypted as well.  Looks like I'll need to fire up one of my SDR setups and figure out how to tune in to them.  A quick search and I think I found a "how to" website.

The thing that really sux is this.

We get a top tier airmass and we can't even get a typical front out of the west for a nice snowstorm overrunning event.

If this had plowed in from the west it would of been a hell of a storm.

Very rare to have this much cold to work with and pretty much go straight to sleet and freezing rare for the Puget Sound.

With the high pressure east of the cascades if we had a low coming in due west to about seaside this would of been a historical blizzard. I feel like we missed a shot at a once in a lifetime snow event for the entire region. Portland would of had heavy snow, 60mph winds and 20 degrees. I will never forget this one and how close we were to something that could of surpassed even 1950, but I would bet money we see arctic air back in the region before January 20th.
